I got the idea for this post after reading this, though it's locked and I can't respond.
There's an issue with laptops, and in all honesty, it's not just for DJ's. Gamers also suffer when it comes to laptops, in fact anyone who uses a laptop for anything more than watching movies and browsing the internet....
They are severely underpowered.
I downloaded a copy last night, I've yet to have a real play with it, but I did line up some old school anthems and just let it create a mix. I doubt it will be any good, but lets have a listen.

The software goes Way way beyond mixing, it also lets you edit the mixes to perfection, and it breaks tracks down into stems, then play with those stems to...
There is a bug in firmware 1.10 that bricks the controller. DO NOT UPDATE THE RX3!!

XDJ-RX3 corrupt firmware 1.10
Once you do update, you'll be left with a controller that will not work. Turn it off and on again and it'll tell you to insert a USB stick into top USB1. And that's it. That's all you can do.
I contacted the store I bought mine from and they contacted PioneerDJ reps...

Oh the irony, PioneerDJ still have the corrupt firmware available for download.
It'll be a while before I can get my hands on one, so in the mean time take a look at the video reviews of the MASSIVE update from the RX2

I have received my RX3 today finally!
It's a bit of an upgrade from the FLX6 even though the jog wheels are a lot smaller. It's going to take some time to get used to it. It took ,me about an hour to even get sound from it!!!
Because it's closer to actual professional DJ gear, it's a bit tricker to align the beat grids, but that of course if WHY you learn to beat match by ear.
Tearing down the new Pioneer DJ Teaser video
Get Ready For The Revolution.mp4
Original Facebook teaser
My thoughts initially were that this new hardware is a competitor to the venerable RANE One, still relatively new but already revered by turntablists.
Firstly look at the title of the video: Get Ready for the REVolution , so the emphasis is on REV, a simple but effective word-play on...

So I was wrong on a couple of points.
There is no interchangeable platters like the Rane One. It's actually 2 different controllers.
I was only joking about the vinyl cleaner felt pad, it's actually the magvel crossfader.
Collated - Several reviews and performances from this new DJ controller.
The price seems VERY reasonable, though still a little bit expensive for someone who has NEVER played with a DJ controller and has no idea what they're doing. Of course people today seem to have a nice disposable income, so what do I know?
Jamie Hartley at Crossfader give us his thoughts on this brand new controller, for both Rekordbox and Serato.
It's a shame but Pioneer could have stolen the market for the sub £1000 4 channel controller, but they made some big mistakes.

Well, I bought an FLX6 today, and it's definitely a step down from the DDJ 1000.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great controller for someone who might find the DDJ 800 or 1000 too expensive and too high level.

I do think PioneerDJ missed the bullseye, but they're still on target. The could have made the overall controller a tiny bit bigger to accommodate the headphone mix and level...
PioneerDJ jave announce a new version of the FLX6, FLX6 in white, and it looks sexy.

The FLX6 is a controller that works with both Rekordbox and Serato, is 4 channels and as near to a Pro DJ controller as you can get for the price.
reviews of the original FLX 6 are here:

Do you have a DDJ 1000 in either RB or Serato flavours? Do you only ever use it as a dual channel mixer/controller? Do you think it's too complicated or tricky remembering which deck is playing or lined up next?
The solution is simple...
USE JUST ONE DECK.
If like me you're left handed, then use that deck. So you'll have channel 1+3. Only mix with these two for a while and then switch to 2+4 for...
I'd considered for some months to replace my ancient, nigh on fossilised PC that I used for Rekordbox.
Now to be fair, the old girl was not to be sneezed at, even though it was a 6600K, it was water cooled and clocked to 4.2ghz, it also had 16GB of DDR 4 (2400mhz) RAM, NVMe, all on an X370 mobo, and I also used it as a NAS. So plenty of storage.
Looking at upgrades, I'd be spending around £500+...
At first glance it seems like an excellent starter controller, or something for a teenager where the hobby won't last for long. But at the same time, a jumping off point for someone who is a little more determined to learn and persevere, and for the most part it's usable, sadly it has some serious short-comings that are difficult to overlook.
The first huge negative, is the price. At £199 it's...
If you've never used any hardware, how do you get to know what everything does? To be honest, it's easy, some things you'll use maybe once or twice per session, others you'll use all the time, but you will use everything fairly regularly.
But this is the video you need, and Crossfader will teach you the majority of controls so you can have a play and learn how to learn.
